Our Father
September 27, 2026

If I were to ask you, “How’s your prayer life?” What would be your honest answer? For many of us, that question can bring up a complicated mix of feelings. We know we should pray, but if we're being real, it can often feel like a mystery, or even a puzzle we can't quite solve. We worry we're doing it wrong, we don’t know what to say, or we wonder if anyone is even listening. It can feel more like a performance or a to-do list than a real conversation.
The disciples of Jesus must have felt the same way. They saw Jesus pray and knew He had a connection to God they longed for. So they asked him, “Lord, teach us to pray.” That request and Jesus’ profound answer is why I am so excited to announce our new 9-week fall message series, “Say a Little Prayer for Me: Conversations With the Father,” based on the Lord’s Prayer in Matthew 6. We're going on a journey together to rediscover prayer not as a duty to perform, but as a gift to be received.
We begin this Sunday with the two words that change everything: “Our Father.” Before Jesus teaches us what to ask for, He teaches us who we are talking to. He invites us out of a relationship with a distant deity and into the arms of a loving Father. This Sunday, we’ll explore the radical, life-altering truth that prayer doesn’t have to begin with our words, our performance, or our needs. It can begin with simply coming home.
The central idea we’ll unpack is this: Prayer is not first asking God for something; it is coming home to Someone. My hope for this series is that we, as a church family, would learn to pray with more confidence, more intimacy, and a greater sense of our beloved identity as children of God.
I can’t wait to begin this journey with you. I truly believe it will change the way we talk to God and the way we live with one another.
